When Peter turned to Catholic Care, he was in desperate need of support and community.

“I was very unwell,” recalls Peter. “I kept working, but when the bushfires came to the Blue Mountains everything we owned was destroyed and it escalated the serious problems I had with my health.

“I was lucky and received a double lung transplant. But in trying to get our lives back together, rebuilding, and dealing with the trauma of my donor family, I became very anxious and was not coping. I needed help.”

Thanks to the support of Good Samaritans like you, Peter started talking to a counsellor at our Catholic Care Drop-In Centre in Springwood and now has the tools to manage his anxiety and reduce his stress levels.

“Catholic Care helped me cope better with my life and I can always talk to someone there when I need to. They listen and always show compassion.”

Everyone deserves to feel supported and loved.

During Lent, we remember Jesus Christ’s supreme sacrifice. Separated from those He loved, Jesus suffered alone on the Cross, dying for our sins before being raised from the dead, so that we might enjoy the promise of everlasting life.

The past two years have shown us a little of what it is like to feel isolated.

Catholic Care’s drop-in centres are a lifeline for vulnerable people who are feeling hopeless and alone or, like Peter, in need of emotional counselling and support.

Catholic Care provides welcoming places for everyone in our community to come for practical assistance, information, acceptance, or simply to connect with others.

Your kind gift and prayers today will support more people like Peter, providing them with a compassionate community where they can feel connected and loved. Thank you for being a Good Samaritan.
