“If you are called to serve, if you have a heart to listen, it’s a great way to be the hands and feet of the Lord.”

As a chaplain at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Abraham George is there with the gift of presence for families in need of prayer, companionship, and a listening ear.

“I will never forget Lucy,* a little girl diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. Her family didn’t know what to do, except rely on God. We organised a baptism for Lucy and prayed with her family.

“Remarkably, Lucy recovered, and the family later visited with a handmade card that said, ‘Thank you for praying for me and supporting me and my family. Thank you for your visit and the spirit in which you organised my christening.

Support our chaplains this Christmas to bring hope and healing to those who are suffering

In the spirit of St Camillus de Lellis, Catholic Care chaplains lovingly minister in public hospitals and prisons throughout Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, providing emotional, spiritual, and sacramental support to people in their darkest days. Their presence eases burdens, lifts spirits, and brings hope, especially in times of serious illness or trauma.

This Advent, I invite you to continue Jesus Christ’s healing presence and ministry, with a gift to help our 15 Catholic Care chaplains to care for the isolated, incapacitated, seriously ill, elderly, and dying.

With your generous support and prayers, our chaplains can continue to provide the healing gift of presence and bring the love and light of our Lord to people in pain and distress. Your compassion will enable them to listen with the ear of the heart, and offer personal connection and spiritual guidance.

Thank you for your loving kindness. May your blessings be multiplied this Christmas and always.

Fr

In this season of hope and giving, we come together with heartfelt gratitude for our blessings, just as our devoted Catholic Care chaplains do every day. Thank you for helping Abraham and our 14 other chaplains to listen with the ear of the heart and provide comfort, faith, and hope to those who are suffering this Christmas and beyond.

Thanks to your kindness, they can touch the lives of many people in hospitals and prisons, who would otherwise feel isolated or abandoned. Your generosity is the foundation for their compassionate work, embodying the true spirit of Christmas.

Together, we are making people's lives brighter through faith, hope, and love. Thank you for sharing your blessings and being part of our mission of love and healing.

God bless you and your loved ones this Christmas, and give you His peace and grace in the new year.
