Help CatholicCare chaplains bring comfort, faith and hope to the sick and isolated
PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY TO THE BISHOP'S GOOD SAMARITAN APPEAL.
Like the Good Samaritan, chaplains are called to be beacons of love and hope.
In hospitals and prisons throughout Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, CatholicCare chaplains provide spiritual, sacramental and emotional support. They accompany and minister to people facing serious or life-threatening health conditions, and those in need of prayer, companionship and a listening ear.
“We endeavour to be present with people as the compassionate face of Christ. We serve and accept people of all faiths and no faiths, without judgement.”
“We help, heal and alleviate distress in their time of need. It’s uplifting for them to have support, whether it’s emotional, spiritual, or connecting them with others.”
“For those who are isolated and without family or friends around, we provide companionship and ease loneliness.”
- Father Marcelo, CatholicCare Chaplain
You can help carry on the work of Jesus in the footsteps of the Good Samaritan
We all experience difficult times in our lives that are distressing, especially if they arise from illness or the loss of our loved ones. Finding the strength, hope and faith we need to get through dark times, immense grief and suffering, can be challenging.
Pope Francis has called us to be an oasis for the weary and troubled, a refuge for the burdened, the field hospital which heals the wounded and strengthens the weak. Just as the Good Samaritan came to the aid of the man left half-dead by the side of the road and gave him comfort and a place to recover, CatholicCare chaplains help people in their time of need.
We can all be Good Samaritans by supporting our chaplains as disciples of Jesus Christ, providing spiritual, emotional and sacramental support to the sick and the dying, the elderly and those in need.
Your compassionate gift and prayers today will support CatholicCare chaplains to carry on the work of Jesus in the footsteps of the Good Samaritan. Thank you for accompanying them on their journey.
